The Elecbee MCP2515 CAN bus module combines an MCP2515 stand-alone CAN controller with a TJA1050 high-speed CAN transceiver. It enables compatible microcontrollers and embedded development boards to communicate with CAN networks through an SPI interface.
The MCP2515 provides CAN protocol control and communicates with a compatible host microcontroller through SPI. This architecture allows development boards without an integrated CAN controller to add CAN bus communication through an external module.
The TJA1050 provides the physical interface between the MCP2515 CAN controller and the two-wire CAN bus. It converts controller-level transmit and receive signals into differential CANH and CANL bus signals for compatible high-speed CAN networks.
The module is suitable for CAN bus experiments, industrial communication prototypes, vehicle-network development, robotics, data acquisition, equipment monitoring and microcontroller-based communication projects.
Before installation, verify the module supply voltage, logic-level compatibility, oscillator frequency, SPI pin assignment, CAN baud-rate configuration and bus termination requirements. A correctly terminated CAN network normally requires suitable termination at both ends of the bus.
