Elecbee PWM Brushed DC Motor Speed Controller

The Elecbee PWM DC motor speed controller regulates the speed of compatible brushed DC motors powered by a 6–60V DC supply. Motor speed can be adjusted manually with the wired potentiometer or controlled by a compatible 0–5V analog signal from industrial automation or embedded-control equipment.

PWM Speed Regulation

The controller regulates motor speed by changing the duty cycle of a 15kHz PWM output. The motor therefore receives switched supply pulses rather than a continuously variable linear DC voltage. Actual motor speed depends on the motor, mechanical load, supply voltage and selected duty cycle.

PLC and Microcontroller Control

The center wire of the potentiometer connection is identified as the 0–5V analog speed-control signal lead. Before connecting an external controller, verify the signal pin, reference ground and voltage range. Do not apply more than 5V to the control input.

A PLC must provide a 0–5V analog output. PLC outputs using 0–10V or 4–20mA require suitable conversion. A microcontroller may require a DAC, filtered PWM circuit or compatible analog-output module.

Installation and Safety

Confirm the power-supply polarity before applying power because reverse polarity may damage the controller. Use appropriately rated wiring, terminals, cooling and power-supply capacity. Consider the motor’s startup and stall current when selecting the operating load.

Compatibility

Designed for compatible brushed DC motors within the stated voltage and current limits. It is not intended for brushless motors and does not provide forward/reverse control.
