What are SMP connectors?

Subminiature push-on (SMP) connectors are plug-in connectors for applications up to 40 GHz. These connectors are easy to connect and disconnect as they can be pushed against each other to make a connection and pulled apart to open the connection. They don't need to be tightened like most other connectors. The force required to connect or disconnect an SMP connector is called the detent. SMP connectors are available in three different brake systems - full bore, limited bore and smooth bore, with respective levels of engagement/disengagement force. They are available in both push-in and snap-in versions.

 

These connectors can be used in board-to-board systems using floating bullets, which provide a link between mated pairs to compensate for radial and axial misalignment.

500 cycles minimum into limited brake housing

1000 cycles minimum into smooth bore guard

Radial deviation: +/-0.25mm

Axial deviation: 0/+0.25mm (with fixed length adapter)

Mating method: push-in or snap-in

Dimensions: The outer diameter of the interface is approx. 3.30mm

Military Specification: Can be used in defense and space applications (MIL-SPEC: MIL-STD-348).
